Cobb Urges Congress to Reject Tainted Ohio Electoral Votes
Columbus, OH Green Party presidential candidate David Cobb will be a featured speaker at two rallies on Thursday in Washington, DC, calling on Congress to reject Ohio's tainted Electoral College votes.
Ohio's Electoral College votes are tainted by the widespread irregularities and allegations of fraud which took place both on election day and in the course of the flawed recount of the vote. Congress must reject these tainted Electoral College votes to preserve the integrity of our democratic process.

The first rally, sponsored by a variety of organizations in addition to the Cobb-LaMarche campaign, will be held at 10 a.m. across from the White House in Lafayette Park. Other speakers besides Cobb include Reverend Jesse Jackson, Global Exchange co-founder Medea Benjamin, recount attorney John Bonifaz from the National Voting Rights Institute, Alysia Fischer from Progressive Democrats of America, and Rev. Lennox Yearwood of the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network.
"Ohio's Electoral College votes are tainted by the widespread irregularities and allegations of fraud which took place both on election day and in the course of the flawed recount of the vote. Congress must reject these tainted Electoral College votes to preserve the integrity of our democratic process," said Cobb.
Sponsors for the 10 a.m. Lafayette Park rally include: United Progressives for Democracy, the Cobb/LaMarche campaign, Code Pink, D.C. Anti-War Network, the national Green Party, Independent Progressive Politics Network, International Labor Communications Association, No Stolen Elections, Progressive Democrats of America, Rainbow/PUSH Coalition, United for Peace and Justice, and Truth in Elections. Two members of Congress, Cynthia McKinney and John Conyers, have also been invited to speak at the rally.
The rally will conclude with a march to Capitol Hill to join with other pro-democracy demonstrations where Cobb will also be speaking.
Cobb will speak at a pro-democracy rally today, January 3, in Columbus, Ohio, at 2 p.m., at the Capitol Theater, 77 S. High Street. The rally will feature the Reverend Jesse Jackson and is sponsored by Rainbow/PUSH, the Cobb-LaMarche campaign and a number of other pro-democracy organizations.
Detailed reports from official observers outlining a wide range of irregularities with the Ohio recount are available at http://www.votecobb.org/recount/ohio_reports/index.php.
Because the Ohio recount was conducted without uniform standards, adequate security for ballots and voting machines, and without using random samples for auditing the vote as required by law, the Cobb-LaMarche campaign is asking a federal court to order a second recount in Ohio.
The New Mexico recount, which has yet to begin due to interference by New Mexico's Governor Bill Richardson, is also the subject of pending litigation.
Cobb is available for press interviews on the recount. On January 4 and 5 he will be in New York City (contact Colby Hamilton at 917.627.8000). On January 6 and 7 he will be in Washington (contact Blair Bobier at 414.364.1596).
